To portray a fierce warrior and Maratha king, Kaushal had to gain 25 kilos. Reports suggest that he went from 80 kg to a solid 105 kg, sculpting his body to match the strength and physique of a historic warrior, and this was not easy.
Kris Gethin, the fitness guru behind the transformations of Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham, trained Vicky Kaushal to up his fitness regime. His fitness regime included intense upper-body training, a mix of strength training, functional workouts, and cardio to build muscles.

Kaushal’s training wasn’t just about lifting heavy weights—it was about functional strength. As per media reports Kaushal’s workout plan focused on:
- Strength Training: Compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses.
- Functional Workouts: Battle ropes, sled pushes, and tyre flips for endurance.
- Cardio: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) for stamina.
- Flexibility and Mobility: Stretching and mobility drills to prevent injuries.
But working out was just half the battle. The real challenge? Sticking to a strict diet plan.

Food plays a crucial role in any body transformation, and Kaushal was no exception. Under the expert guidance of Akshay Arora, founder of Neat Meals Company, the actor followed a strict protein-rich vegetarian diet.
Given his Punjabi roots, Kaushal loves hearty meals. But for ‘Chhaava,’ he had to trade in rich, indulgent dishes for carefully measured, high-protein meals.
His day would typically start at 4 AM, no matter what time his shoot was scheduled. By 6 AM, while most of the crew was just waking up, Kaushal would already be lifting weights, sipping black coffee, and blasting music in his vanity van. His meal plan included:
- Protein Power: Soya chunks, paneer, and plant-based protein sources.
- Energy Boosters: Beetroot tikkis and sweet potatoes.
- Clean Eating: Minimally processed foods, balanced macros, and no cheat meals.

Kaushal’s dedication to his role goes beyond just physical appearance. “It’s not just about looking the part; it’s about feeling it,” he once said in a media interaction.
