Weight Loss Story: Woman Loses 8 Kgs In 34 Days, By Keeping Herself Hydrated (Image Credits: Instagram)

Real-life weight loss story: Ravisha Chinnappa, a woman of Indian origin based in South Africa, has been inspiring many with her weight loss journey, shared on her Instagram account, IVF Momma. Recently, she opened up in a candid video about her year-long struggle to shed postpartum weight and how she finally achieved success. Through three simple yet effective lifestyle changes, Ravisha managed to lose over 8 kg, dropping from 55 kg to 47 kg within five weeks. Here’s how she did it.
Ravisha, who is soon to be 35 and a mother to a young daughter, explains in her video, “I struggled for an entire year with my postpartum weight. Despite all my efforts, I was unable to lose even a single kg or cm.” She further shared how her progress only began once she adopted three daily practices, which she believes are responsible for her significant weight loss.
Here are the three steps that she followed to lose weight:
Kept Herself Hydrated
One of Ravisha’s tips is staying consistently hydrated. “Life kept getting busy, and I often forgot to hydrate myself, but hydration is one of the ways you burn fat,” she shared. To build a consistent hydration routine, Ravisha set up a timer on her phone, which she personalized with an encouraging affirmation: “Water is how you burn fat, beautiful.” She set the timer to go off every 90 minutes from the time she woke up, prompting her to drink at least 20 sips of water each time.
Ravisha suggests a simple formula: “Ideally, you want to be consuming half of your body weight in ounces of water.” This routine has not only helped her stay hydrated but has also supported her metabolism, which she believes played a crucial role in her weight loss journey.
Ate Protein-Packed Meals to Avoid Snacking
Ravisha’s second lifestyle change involved changing her diet. She realized that incorporating more protein could help curb her cravings for sweet and salty snacks. “I needed to increase my protein intake to stop all the snacking,” she shared, aiming for a minimum of 100 grams of protein daily, which equates to about 400 calories. She shared that even this moderate amount of protein can significantly reduce cravings, making it easier to avoid unhealthy snacks and focus on more nutrient-dense foods.
Kept Herself Motivated
The final component of Ravisha’s transformation was adjusting her mindset. She began regularly visualizing herself at her ideal weight, which helped her stay motivated and maintain a positive outlook. According to Ravisha, this mindset shift was essential in keeping her focused on her goals and reinforcing her commitment to her health journey.
