A full-body detox involves following a diet to remove toxins from the body
Now that the holiday and festival season is over, most people are back to their daily grind. However, all the parties, eating, and drinking with friends and family could have led to weight gain, which in winter is a little difficult to shed. However, according to nutritionist Tanvee Tutlani, it takes just 2 days to get back in shape!
“As your weight increases in holiday, it comes down as well if you follow a proper detox routine for two days which involves clean eating and some exercises,” she said on her Instagram.
Tanvee’s two-day meal plan includes:
- A detox water with either chia seeds, lemon slices, or cinnamon, which helps remove toxins for early morning
- For the first meal of the day—breakfast—have a boiled egg along with some sautéed or roasted vegetables.
- For midday, cut fruits like papaya and pineapples, which help burn fat.
- For lunch, eat roasted vegetables along with chicken
- Evening snacks should include a handful of popcorn along with a piece of dark chocolate
- Dinner should be the lightest – including salad and a bowl of any dal of your choice.

Why is detox important?
According to experts, a full-body detox involves following a diet to remove toxins from the body. However, your body is well-equipped to eliminate these harmful substances without dietary intervention or supplementation.
Toxin refers to pollutants, synthetic chemicals, heavy metals, and processed foods, which can negatively affect health. While many diets and supplements claim to ‘detoxify’ the body from these substances, they are typically unsupported by research. A full-body detox is part of regular organ function, with the body naturally eliminating harmful substances through the kidneys, liver, digestive system, skin, and lungs.
Other best ways to detoxify your body
A few other ways you can detoxify your body include:
Limit alcohol
Experts say your liver metabolizes more than 90 per cent of the alcohol you consume, which can lead to cancer. Excessive drinking severely damages your liver function by causing fat buildup, inflammation, and scarring.
When this happens, your liver cannot function adequately and perform its necessary tasks, including filtering waste and other toxins from your body.
Prioritize your sleep
Make sure to get quality sleep every night to support your body’s health and natural detoxification system. Sleeping allows your brain to reorganize and recharge itself, as well as remove toxic waste byproducts that accumulate throughout the day.
Drink more water
It is important to hydrate your body as it regulates your body temperature, lubricates joints, aids digestion and nutrient absorption, and detoxifies your body by removing waste products. Your body’s cells must continuously repair themselves to function optimally and break down nutrients for your body to use as energy.
Stop eating sugar and junk food
According to studies, consumption of sugary and highly processed foods not only causes obesity and other chronic diseases like heart issues, cancer, and diabetes, but also diseases your body’s ability to naturally detoxify. You can keep your body’s detoxification system healthy by consuming less junk food.
